My three month backpacking around Asia was one of the best trips of my life. I had gone travelling many times before this trip but this was the first time I got to experience a long trip. I had always been restricted to shorter trips thanks to being a full time employee with limited holiday days. This trip was taken after I handed in my notice and became self-employed which meant I could spend real time in a country for the first time.
Vietnam hadn’t originally been a planned stop on my Asia trip but a last minute decision saw me purchasing a ticket from Bangkok to Hanoi. I am so glad I ended up going because that part of the trip was incredible. I got to see and do so many amazing things. From partying on a boat in Halong Bay to staying at a luxurious Ecolodge in Sapa to getting to know the locals and understand more about their culture and lifestyles.
Vietnam is such a beautiful country and I hope these 26 pictures convince you to visit this amazing country.

I visited Vietnam in 2013 and loved it, had a wonderful time. Great pictures, thank you for sharing them.
It’s such a great country isn’t it 🙂
I hadn’t considered visiting Vietnam before, but your photos make it look like a beautiful country to explore! I’ll have to look into visiting at some point.
I hope you make it out there one day. I was probably the same before and didn’t have Vietnam high on my list of places to go but I’m so glad I did as it became one of my favourite Asian countries
This really did make me want to visit! Especially the view from the Ecolodge, the woman washing the buffalo, and the guy with the guitar. I love places where the towns are sewn into nature, rather than trampling over it like in bigger cities. The photos of people are great reassurance that folks are friendly too, I’d love to have a chat with the guitar guy!
That Ecolodge was like being in a fairytale land. So beautiful! The guy with the guitar had such incredible life stories and an amazingly positive attitude
The last time I went to Vietnam was in 2014 and this is filling me with so much wanderlust for the place again!
Every time I see my old Vietnam pictures I get excited thinking about returning
ahhh I’m so keen to go to Vietnam! Stupid covid ruining plans…. Awesome photos 🤩
I know but we are going to appreciate travel so much more when the world opens up again… at least that’s what I keep telling myself haha
Vietnam has such a unique landscape, I can’t wait to visit one day!
It’s such a beautiful country. I hope you do make it there one day 🙂
Amazing pics! What a great visual story you tell with them. Thank you for sharing!
Thanks so much 🙂
Your photos are wonderful and they would make me want to go if I hadn’t already toured through Vietnam. Actually, they do make me want to go back. I did not get to your viewpoint for all of Marble Mountain even though I visited it. And, learning to make rice paper was a special treat for me.
Thanks Rhonda 🙂 Watching rice paper being made just blew my mind. The speed and confidence was just insane
The more photos I see of Vietnam, the more I want to visit! Halong Bay looks absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing!
Halong Bay def needs to be visited. You can either do a crazy party tour or just a relaxing boat cruise
I already wanted to visit Vietnam, but these photos make me want to go even more! I’d never thought about taking a road trip there, but your picture of the long road makes me rethink that. Lovely photos!
It’s a great place for a road trip. Either a self organised one or a driven service. My hostel had a road trip option for travelling between the Hue and Hoi An hostel and it was just a great experience
So beautiful! Your photos are stunning!!! I’ve never been to Vietnam but def want to visit after reading this!
Thank you 🙂 Vietnam is def one of those places I think everyone should put on their travel wish list
