After a busy week hiking in Poland’s Tatras mountains I was looking forward to a few days of relaxation and I certainly found it at the Sheraton Grand Krakow Hotel!
Conveniently located by the Wawel Royal Castle and just a 10 minute walk from the Market Square in the Old Town, this is the perfect hotel for a city break to Krakow. With 232 recently refurbished rooms available you won’t be disappointed with your stay at the Sheraton Grand Krakow.
Since I had been busy exploring the mountains of Poland and Slovakia by car, the fact the Sheraton Grand Krakow hotel had a car park was extremely useful. I recommend hiring a car when in Krakow if you are thinking about visiting the nearby Salt Mines or Auschwitz.

The Hotel
The Sheraton Grand Krakow was actually the first Sheraton Grand opened in Poland. When entering the lobby the first thing that struck me was how open the space was. The glass ceiling and tree plants dotted around gave it a very natural feel. I stayed during a rainy couple of days, however, I imagine it’s simply beautiful during the summer months.
The Room
I was staying in one of the Deluxe rooms which offered a fantastic view of the Wisla River. The room was spacious and had all the modern conveniences you could want. These included in room wifi, air conditioning, an LCD TV, tea and coffee making facility, fridge with a mini bar, iron and ironing board plus an electronic safe.
The well lit bathroom contained the usual toiletries you’d expect from a 5 star hotel such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, cotton buds, etc. What impressed me though was the fact they also had razors, mouthwash and even an exfoliating net sponge. It’s the little things like this that show the Sheraton Grand Krakow cares about their guests.
However, the best thing about this room has to be the king sized bed. Sheraton Hotels have special beds made for them that are so comfortable and luxurious that you simply melt into them. I’ve never had such a comfortable nights sleep in a hotel bed, or in any bed for that matter! These Sheraton beds are so popular they even have an online store where you can buy them for your own home.
Restaurant and Bars
The Sheraton Grand Krakow Hotel has a lot to offer its guests to help make their stay more enjoyable. The Olive Restaurant is located in the centre of the glass-roof atrium and is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I couldn’t resist checking out the Olive Restaurant for dinner and was not left disappointed. The hotel recently appointed a new executive chef before my stay and he is an amazing cook!
The breakfast buffet, also served within The Olive Restaurant, had a wide selection of choices to suit everyone’s needs. There was a selection of cold fish, fresh fruit, yoghurts, ham and cheeses, bread and pastries, plus plenty of hot food to choose and even someone to prepare fresh eggs and omelettes.
As well as the main restaurant you can also get some Tex-Mex style food from the sports bar. This bar has 10 HD screens for screening sports and also a summer garden area. For those not interested in sports there is also another bar area which offers a wide variety of vodkas, amongst other drinks!
My favourite place to drink at the Sheraton Grand Krakow though has to be the rooftop bar which has the most stunning views. Overlooking the Wisla river and Wawel Royal Castle it provides guests with the perfect place to enjoy cocktails in summer. Even though the weather wasn’t fantastic during my stay, I still managed to enjoy a refreshing cocktail while taking in the views of Krakow.
Facilities
During the last morning of my stay I couldn’t resisted trying out the hotel’s spa and fitness centre. I was impressed with the variety of equipment they had in the gym. The pool, while on the small side, was long enough to swim laps and being inside meant it can be enjoyed all year round. The highlight for me though was the sauna. With two saunas, one for men and one for women, you can truly relax and enjoy yourself.
With twelve meetings rooms available the Sheraton Grand Krakow is a popular choice for businesses too. It’s also becoming more popular as a wedding venue. With it’s amazing views and delicious food it’s no wonder the hotel has been hosting weddings from couples all over the world!
The Staff
No matter how impressive a hotel and its facilities are, the staff can be a make it or break it for guests enjoying their stay. For me the staff here were completely fantastic. From the moment I arrived I had people wanting to help me with anything. The hotel is well staffed so there’s always someone around if you require assistance and always with a smile on their face.
They also provide guests with expert knowledge of the city ready to offer tips on things worth visiting. Of course, this information is also provided in a booklet you receive at check in which has lots of great tips for guests visiting Krakow for the first time.
Overall Verdict
You’ve probably gathered by this point that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Sheraton Grand Krakow. The hotel has been going through a refurbishment and you can see how they are trying to do all they can to make sure guests have the best stay possible. You really feel well looked after when staying here. It was my first time staying at a Sheraton Hotel and now I can’t wait to stay in another one. Since my stay here I have signed up for their Starpoints loyalty scheme.
