The older I get the more important I believe it is to spoil yourself with treats. Two of my favourite ways to do this are by relaxing at the spa and over indulging at afternoon tea. So when a friend suggested we spend the day doing both I couldn’t say no!
Knowing I would soon be moving to Manchester we wanted to have one ‘final’ girls day out in London and Le Meridien Hotel in Piccadilly Circus had the perfect spa and afternoon tea combination.

How To Get to Le Meridien Piccadilly
Located in the heart of London’s West End, Le Méridien Piccadilly central location makes it easy to get to. The hotel is just a short 3 minute walk from Piccadilly Circus tube station on the Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines.
Alternatively you can take a 7 minute walk from Green Park tube station on the Piccadilly, Jubilee and Victoria lines. Or an 11 minute walk from Oxford Street tube station on the Bakerloo, Victoria and Central lines.
There is also a bus stop conveniently located right by the hotel. The buses that stop here are the number 6, 9, 14, 19, 38, N9, N19, N38 and N97.
The Piccadilly Health Club & Spa
Once we arrived at Le Meridien Piccadilly we headed straight downstairs to the lower level to take advantage of all the spa facilities on site.
We presented our voucher at reception, signed in and once we were given our towels we made our way to the changing room. We were impressed with the size and facilities within the changing room, however, the lockers were slightly confusing to understand. But we did eventually figure out how to lock them.
Entering the spa we were instantly impressed with the indoor pool which is apparently one of the largest in London. If you’re thinking that an outdoor pool would be better, you have to remember this is London and if the pool was outside it would be closed most of the year!
The pool was perfect was swimming a few laps. I love swimming when I travel and it’s not often I get to do it while working so this was a real treat. What I especially loved about this pool was the fact it had a rail along the sides. This was actually quite convenient for doing stretches and exercises in the pool.
There were also a few sun loungers around the edge of the pool which was great as we could take a little break in between our laps to read or gossip. Perfect when the idea behind the spa day was to have a catch up!
Peter Rabbit Afternoon Tea
After we were done relaxing in the spa it was time to head upstairs to the roof terrace for the Peter Rabbit themed afternoon tea.
The Terrace on Piccadilly was the perfect location for the Peter Rabbit afternoon tea. The terrace is covered in skylights that bring in natural light from the sun and with vibrant plants all over the place it feels like a warm and inviting green house.
We took a seat and eagerly awaited our afternoon tea to begin. While looking round admiring our surroundings we couldn’t help but notice several of the guests had been in the spa with us. I guess it wasn’t just us combining the spa with the afternoon tea!
While we waited for our treats to arrive we were given a menu to look over so we could select our teas. There were eight loose leaf teas available. I decided to go for the elderflower and blossom darjeeling and it did not disappoint! While looking over the menu we couldn’t help but get excited for the afternoon tea.
When our food arrived we were instantly impressed with the attention to detail that had gone into it. So much thought had gone into making it the perfect Peter Rabbit themed afternoon tea. It was presented on a very fitting two tier slate stand. Although don’t try and move it yourself as there is definitely a skill required to pick it up!
The savoury elements were beautifully presented which can be a challenge with afternoon teas! My favourite was the ‘Caught in a Twist’ smoked salmon and sun-dried tomato pin wheel. Followed closely by the ‘Farmyard Friends’ devilled eggs on basil bread.
While the ‘Mr McGregor’s Garden’ baguette was the prettiest savoury it was a little dry and the ends really couldn’t be eaten. However, not a huge problem since there are more than enough elements to keep you satisfied.
The sweet treats were definitely my favourite part and that’s not something I say too often! I just loved the effort that went into each element. I really enjoyed the ‘Blackberry Bushes’ which was an open blackberry macaroon topped with crème pâtissière and a blackberry garnish. And I also enjoyed the moist carrot cake appropriately named ‘Every Bunny’s Favourite’.
This afternoon tea really did bring out the child in me and I absolutely loved it for that. I never thought I would be eating an edible plant pot, especially in my 30s! Unfortunately like most themed afternoon teas this one is only around for a limited time. However, I can’t wait to see what they bring out next!
The Terrace on Piccadilly
We loved the terrace so much that we just couldn’t drag ourselves away once we were done with the afternoon tea. It was a rare beautifully sunny day in London so we slipped out to the vibrant Au Soleil balcony to enjoy a drink. It was the perfect way to end out girls day out.
The Terrace on Piccadilly had teamed up with Mirabeau en Provence who have a passion for making rose. I couldn’t resist trying their sparkling rose. It was fruity and well balanced and had me dreaming of being in Southern France.
