During my recent visit to Killarney for TBEX I had the opportunity to visit Killarney Brewing Company. As some of my more regular readers will know, I do like a beer while I travel and I am always keen to visit more breweries.
I was really grateful for Killarney Brewing Company for organising this pre-TBEX event as it meant not only did I get to enjoy an evening of beer tasting but I also got to catch up with a few fellow travel bloggers.
Who Are Killarney Brewing Company?
After the founding partners restored the old Killarney mineral water drinks facility to it’s former glory Killarney Brewing Company quickly became one of Ireland’s most exciting independent craft breweries. Their beer is made with only the finest ingredients, additive and preservative free and produced in small batches to ensure the quality remains in every bottle. Their mission is to bring a new level of excellence and appreciation to beer drinking.
The Tour
We entered and straight away I noticed the state of the art equipment on display in the bar. I’ve always enjoyed going to bars where elements of the beer making process are on display so seeing this instantly put a smile on my face. As I walked in I was greeted by cheery staff members whose enthusiasm was definitely infectious.
We sat around the tables in the bar catching up with old and new blogger friends while a selection of Killarney Brewing Company beers were placed in front of us. We were presented with their Devil’s Helles Lager, Golden Spear Blonde, Rutting Red Irish Red Ale and the Scarlet Pimpernel IPA. My favourite was the Golden Spear Blonde.
After we were done sampling the beers we were brought upstairs to learn more about Killarney Brewing Company. They showed us a video which was one of the best informational videos I’ve ever seen. Knowing that a lot of people find these types of videos boring they decided to add a twist to theirs. Half of the film was light hearted and fun with a few over exaggerated facts. This helped get everyone’s attention before showing the key information about why Killarney Brewing Company beers are so special.
