Anyone coming to London will be spoilt for choice when it comes to afternoon teas. We seem to have it all here from super luxurious afternoon teas to disney themed afternoon teas. I’ve lived in London for over 7 years now so of course I’ve tried my fair share of London afternoon teas in that time.
Thanks to the wonderful Brittany from The Sweet Wanderlust coming to visit I think I can now saw I’ve found London’s quirkiest afternoon tea. The lovely people at B Bakery have combined two loves of mine to create one super afternoon tea. Their Gin Lovers Afternoon Tea Bus Tour combines gin tasting and afternoon tea while touring around London on an iconic red bus. If your London bucket list includes gin tasting, afternoon tea and a bus tour, you can tick all three items off in just one afternoon. Perfect!
We made our way to Vauxhall bus station where the bus departs from. I’m not ashamed to say that we were two very excited girls as we made our way to the bus. Please note that the Vauxhall bus station is a short walk away from Vauxhall station so it’s best to check where it is on a map before you go!
As we took our place in line we were surrounded by groups of parties all as excited as us and we quickly started making friends. It was such a relaxed environment and everyone was up for some fun. I couldn’t help but feed off their energy. I couldn’t wait for the gin lovers afternoon tea to start.
Thankfully it wasn’t too long before we were being taken to our bus. We stepped on and were instantly impressed. It was the cutest London bus I’ve ever seen! In front of us tables of 4 had been set up, each with a colourful spread of delicious looking food. My mouth was watering just by the sight of them! I couldn’t wait to start this gin lovers afternoon tea.
We sat down and instantly starting inspecting the food in front of us which all looked amazing. It was presented so well and I especially loved how colourful it looked. We happily tasted our way through the selection. My favourite had to be the super cute looking pink buns filled with cream cheese and salmon. They were simply incredible!
While we were enjoying the delicious food in front of us, we were treated to three Haymans Gin cocktails. Up first we had a classic gin and tonic cocktail. This was my first time trying Haymans Gin and I can definitely say I’m now a fan!
Next up we went a little fancier with a prosecco with gin and elderflower. It even came topped with an edible flower. This was probably my favourite but they were all good. Last up we had a gin and lemonade cocktail. This one came in a larger glass so there was more of it to enjoy.
What makes this afternoon tea different from the others you can do around London is that while you’re enjoying your cocktails and food, you’re also being driven around London on an iconic London red bus. Throughout the afternoon tea the music gets turned down so everyone can learn some interesting facts about London. Ok, for me these weren’t new facts but for tourists visiting London this is a great way to learn more about the city.
The music they play by the way is what helps make the afternoon tea bus such a great day out. Throughout our afternoon tea we got to enjoy non stop upbeat 80s music. We were happily dancing away to the likes of Wham! while enjoying our food and cocktails. I’m not ashamed to say that we were also having a little sing song too.
Once we had finished enjoying our gin we opted for some tea. It was afternoon tea after all! As we were on a bus it was served in a travel mug. The mug was super cute and I’ll admit that a part of me was tempted to slip it into my bag but thankfully I didn’t have to as we were each given one to take home at the end. I’ve happily been using mine around London.
Overall I’m so happy with the Gin Lovers Afternoon Tea. It was everything I had hoped it would be and more! We got to enjoy some delicious food from B-Bakery and try a new gin that I will definitely be buying in the future. We were treated to so much food we couldn’t possibly finish it all so we were very happy when we were given boxes to put our leftovers in.
