After a hectic week in Ireland visiting family and getting little sleep during TBEX (a travel bloggers conference) I was ready for some well deserved relaxation and I certainly got it at The Clayton Hotel Limerick.
While the road trip and conference were awesome, the trip was a draining one. My stay at The Clayton Hotel Limerick proved to be the perfect place for spending a relaxing weekend in Limerick. Curious why? Read on to find out…

The Clayton Hotel Limerick’s Location
When you’re after a relaxing break away there’s no better setting than a hotel next to a river. Yes, The Clayton Hotel is situated along the banks of the river Shannon providing stunning views from their 158 luxurious rooms.
The Room
All 158 of the luxurious rooms have been designed for relaxation. They are the perfect place for a relaxing break away. Plus, all the rooms come with a strong wifi connection, air-con, a 32” television, tea making facilities, crisp cotton duvets, iron and ironing boarding, a high performance hair dryer, safety deposit box and 24 hour room service.
Of course, if you want to make your stay even more luxurious, you can upgrade to one of the executive rooms. This is the room I had and as well as all the amenities mentioned above, when you book an executive room you will also be provided with a morning newspaper, mineral water for your room, an espresso coffee machine, chocolates and luxury toiletries.
For me though, the best part of the room was the bath gown (robe) that we got. I always get a little excited when I see my hotel room has a robe but this one at The Clayton Hotel Limerick was the comfiest robe I’ve ever worn! It was exactly the little perk I needed to really relax on this break.
For the ultimate trip you can always choose to get the penthouse room. This luxury room comes with everything mentioned plus your own private balcony!
The Leisure Facilities
As well as offering stunning rooms to relax in, The Clayton Hotel Limerick also has plenty of facilities to offer their guests. What I love about them is there are no hidden fees to pay to use the facilities once you get there. Everything is open to their guests. That means no extra stress to ruin your relaxing trip away.
I couldn’t resist taking a dip in the indoor pool every morning. The pool is twelve metres long with four foot depth. The perfect size for someone like me who just wants to swim a few laps in the morning to wake up. My favourite part about the pool is with the huge glass windows surrounding it so you can enjoy views of the river Shannon while you swim. An outdoor pool really wouldn’t be an option with all the rain Ireland gets but The Clayton Hotel Limerick has found a great way to provide a pool that can be used in all weather and still offer views of the city. Perfect!
What makes the Clayton Hotel Limerick the perfect getaway place for relaxation or a romantic trip away is that they offer much more than just a pool. Guests are also treated to a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. I was in heaven!
If you like a morning workout you’ll be delighted to know the hotel also had a state of the art gym. This gym has everything you could possibly need during your stay. Usually I would start the day with a morning gym session but I must admit I was too in love with the jacuzzi to visit the gym this trip. Is that bad?
The Bar and Restaurant
After a week and a half of busy schedules I just wanted to be somewhere I could relax and take it easy. That’s why I loved the fact The Clayton Hotel Limerick has its own bar I could enjoy. With friendly staff, a great selection of drinks and a view of the river Shannon, it’s no wonder this hotel bar is also popular with the locals too.
It wasn’t just the bar I enjoyed during my stay. I also sampled some delicious food from the restaurant. I loved the intimate ambience here and the range of food available. On the first night I had an incredible three-course meal in the restaurant that was delicious. Then on the second night I decided to enjoy some time alone and took advantage of the room service.
The Staff
No matter how impressive a hotel and its facilities are, the staff can be a make it or break it for guests enjoying their stay. For me the staff here were completely fantastic. From the moment I arrived I had people wanting to help with anything. The hotel is well staffed so there’s always someone around if you require assistance and always with a smile on their face.
The staff also have excellent knowledge of the city and I was very grateful for that! One guy suggested a visit to The Copper Room and it was well worth a visit. A slightly hidden underground bar where I got to enjoy beautiful wine while eating some delicious cheese. Perfect for me!

Looks like a great place to stay. The features of the Executive Rooms alone are enticing, but when you throw in the Hotel facilities, not to mention the delicious food on offer, it looks like a must-stay for anyone visiting Ireland!
It really is a lovely relaxing hotel to stay at and that jacuzzi was heaven! And the food is so good too
