
Cat cafes may have started in Asia but they have become so popular you’ll find them in most countries. The United States is no exception, with cat cafes all around the country.
California was actually the home of the first cat cafe in the US and since then many more have arrived. Now there are several cat cafes in California for cat lovers to visit.

Previously known as Knead Catffeine, Cat Cafe Rescue is a magical place, filled with adorable cats and kittens who are patiently waiting for their forever homes. This setting is ideal for those looking for solitude and relaxation. Come for a coffee, play with the cats, cuddle them and maybe adopt them.

Catmosphere Laguna (Laguna Beach)
Catmosphere Laguna Foundation opened a cafe and was Orange County’s first cat cafe. They have an ongoing mission increase the county’s rate of feline adoptions and provide improved lives and futures for kitties awaiting their furrever home.

Located just inside the door to FieldHaven Marketplace is Champy’s Catfe. Bring your own coffee or tea and settle in for a visit with some of FieldHavent’s favorite adoptable cats.

Feline Good Social Club (Long Beach)
A cozy cat lounge where people can relax and cuddle with 25+ adoptable cats. FGSC has a mission to provide mutually-beneficial social interaction opportunities between humans and cats. As they like to say, they enjoy watching guests getting giddy with a kitty.

Cat Cafe Lounge (Los Angeles)
Cat Cafe Lounge is Los Angeles’ only non-profit cat cafe and catio. As well as the cats being available for cuddles, all the cats are up for adoption. Guests can enjoy freshly brewed coffee and something to nibble while lounging in a room full of adorable cats. The lounge was designed to make the cats comfortable with plenty of space to climb, run, scratch and hide if they need a break.

Crumbs and Whiskers (Los Angeles)
Crumbs and Whiskers partner with rescues who save homeless cats and kittens and house them in their cafes. They want to house the cats in a comfortable, safe, enriching and nurturing environment to drastically improve their lives.

RAWR Coffee Bar (Oakland)
Formally known as Cat Town Cafe, RAWR Coffee Bar at Cat Town Adoption Center is home to the nation’s first cat cafe. A cage free environment to support cats who struggle to get adopted from traditional shelters. Removing the cages, they can help shy, scared and stressed cats get adopted or fostered.

Mini Cat Town (Pleasanton)
After the success in San Jose, Mini Cat Town opened in Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton. By combining the exposure of a shopping center with animal rescue, they hope to build a sustainable future and save more kittens. Admission is on a walk-in basis and subject to a waitlist.

The Cat Cafe (San Diego)
The Cat Cafe in San Diego is the fourth oldest continuously operating cat cafe in the United States and was the first in Southern California. Located in the heart of downtown San Diego, it’s a great place to enjoy award-winning locally roasted coffee in the company of cats. They also hold events such as Cats on Mats yoga class.

KitTea Cat Cafe (San Francisco)
With a mission to not only save cats, but also to show humans just how relaxing and heartwarming cats can be. Unfortunately after moving locations, the cafe portion is no longer open. However, they still have all of their rescue permanent residents and adoptable cats. During your visit guests can take advantage of ordering food from their neighbors.

Mini Cat Town (San Jose)
Founded by three sisters, Mini Cat Town is the first kitten lounge in a shopping center. By combining the exposure of a shopping center with animal rescue, they hope to build a sustainable future and save more kittens. Admission is on a walk-in basis and subject to a waitlist.

The Dancing Cat (San Jose)
Located near downtown San Jose, The Dancing Cat’s mission is to find homes for at-risk cats from the San Jose Animal Care Center. For a small donation, guests are invited to spend an hour with the adoptable cats in a relaxing environment. They even host events such as Purr Yoga, craft workshops and music nights.

Cat Therapy helps save cats facing homeless by fostering, socializing and rehoming them at their beautiful cage free Cat Cafe. Enjoy visiting their heartwarming space, where you’ll be surrounded by free roaming rescued cats.

Cat & Craft Cat Lounge (Vista)
As a cat cafe in North County, they want to make an impact on adoptions and animal rescue. All the cats residing here are adoptable rescues from San Diego non-profit The Rescue House. The cat cafe is also home to the incredible Cat Mural which is a custom work of art completed by San Diego’s own Carly Earley.
