I know I’ve not been keeping up to date with these but here it finally is. My latest monthly beer review is now here. With the huge task of moving house at the start of the year and then several out of London jobs as well as a big trip to India and Nepal, I’ve been on a bit of a blogging hiatus recently. But you may have noticed I’ve started publishing regularly again so we are getting back to normal here on Curious Claire.
If you missed this series, it’s one I started at the end of last year. Here I share a more in depth look at the beers I’ve been drinking over the last month. My beer consumption always seems to be an interest on social media so here I share info about what I’ve been drinking, what I preferred and where it came from. So without further ado, here are my August 2023 beers…

Total Beers
If you’ve missed the other posts in this series, this is a fairly low total for me. I usually share the beers with Boyfriend, which is a great way of being able to try more beers without over drinking. While I do like sampling craft beers, I don’t want to over drink them!
The Countries
I spent a few weeks over July and August working in Belize which is why they are high on the list here. I had a few at the start of August while I was still out there and then I did bring some home too. And while I was away on that job, Boyfriend was in the States and like me, brought some home. I also had a short break to Ireland with my mum so that pushed them higher on the list than usual.

The Breweries
In Belize I was only getting a chance to drink the more universally available beers which mostly came from the same Brewery which pushed them to the top of this month’s list. With all the beers that came home from trips, I never did any kind of brewery beer delivery which meant I didn’t drink more beers from any specific breweries in August.

The Styles
Lagers don’t usually make it too high in my lists but in Belize I didn’t have much choice but to drink lagers and a few stouts. Not that I’m complaining too much here! Plus my trip to Ireland was a casual just drinking in usual pubs, not craft beer specialist pubs which meant a few more lagers crept in.

With all the casual beers I had across Belize and Ireland, I was surprised to see so many beers get a score of 4 or above in August. I guess once I was home I was drinking some very good craft beers!

Beers Worth Mentioning
Just because a beer doesn’t quite make it to the top list, still doesn’t mean they aren’t worth mentioning. All these beers scored 3.75, so only just missed out on that top spot.
- El Segundo Brewing Company – Broken Skull Double IPA
- Eureka Heights Brew Co – Buckle Bunny
- Lone Pine Brewing Company – Quantum Cuddle Kitten
- Neon Raptor – Magic Work
- The Warbler Brewery – Flurpy

Where My August 2023 Beers Came From
This is the question I get asked all the time on Instagram so it makes sense to answer here where my August 2023 beers came from. Whether they came from certain breweries or taprooms that I visited or from specialist beer shops.
Breweries
Polly’s Brewing Co. (Wales)
I ordered a big batch of beers from Polly’s online shop a few months ago for Boyfriend’s birthday so that’s why there were still a few Polly’s beers had in August. We both love their beers and with Boyfriend being a Welshie, I couldn’t think of a better brewery to treat him to.
Beer Shops
Craft Metropolis
If you follow my stories on Instagram, or read these beer round ups regularly, you will no doubt of heard me mention Craft Metropolis before. These guys are amazing and really know their beers. They have 2 taprooms in London but I mostly use their online shop. They have a fantastic range of delicious craft beers and never disappoint.
